About Dr. Malviya
Gynecologic Oncologist
Vinay Malviya, M.D. was born September 28, 1953 in Nagpur, India. He came to the United States in 1977 to join the staff of Long Island Hillside Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Malviya is a naturalized U.S. Citizen.
Education and Training
Dr. Malviya earned his M.D. degree from Grant Medical College in Bombay, India in 1976.
His formal medical training includes a rotating internship with Sir. J. J. Group of Hospitals in Bombay, India (1975-1976) and serving as a First Year Resident at Saint George Hospital in Bombay, India (1976-1977).
Dr. Malviya came to the United States to pursue specialized training in obstetrics, gynecology and gynecologic oncology. This training includes the Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center, New Hyde Park, New York, where he served his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, including as Chief Resident (1977 – 1980). He then completed a Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City (1980 – 1982).
Teaching, Hospital Appointments and Certifications
Dr. Malviya has previously served as an Assistant Professor at the Case Western Reserve (Cleveland, Ohio) Department of Reproductive Medicine (1982 – 1982); and as an Assistant Professor and Tenured Associate Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit, Michigan) in its Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology (1983 – 1996).
As a faculty member and attending physician, Dr. Malviya has been extremely active throughout his career in helping train and guide our next generations of medical professionals. These activities have included teaching formal course work, resident training, clinical teaching, and supervision of student theses, essays and other medical papers.
